Almost fifty thousand people in two cities of Georgia will get uninterrupted water supply. The population of Ozurgeti and Lanchkhuti will benefit after complete updating of water supply projects.
It is important to note that under the updation project to provide the population with an uninterrupted water supply the following facilities are being built:
- a new reservoir
- wells and a pumping station
At the same time water supply projects are being carried out at a rapid pace in the Guria region. Currently two of the most important projects are being implemented in Ozurgeti and Lanchkhuti cities. Within the framework of the ongoing projects about 50,000 people will have a 24-hour water supply.
The well-maintained and rehabilitated headwater facilities and reservoirs as well as an established network will allow the administration to provide full coverage to Ozurgeti, Lanchkhuti, and the other respective municipalities which will cover a total of about 17 villages.
It is very important that these specific locations have never had a centralized water supply network in the past. “Unfortunately there are many such locations in these current projects, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Irakli Karseladze said this after inspecting the current works of the water supply project in Ozurgeti city along with officials.
The construction of the water supply network in two areas of the village is nearing completion. The current project financed with 48 million GEL from the state budget, is planned to be completed by the end of 2025. As a result more than 20,000 beneficiaries will benefit from a 24-hour water supply.
The United Water Supply Company of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is implementing six rehabilitation and construction projects to improve the water supply in the Guria area. The total cost of these projects is 115 million GEL. The water supply network was completely renewed in some villages in the Ozurgeti municipality including Tskhemliskhidi, Dvabzu, and Mkhsivauri.
It is worth noting that the completion of ongoing projects by the United Water Supply Company of Georgia in the Guria region is planned to be complete the work In stages for the next two years.
