Tea Akhvlediani, the Georgian minister for reconciliation and Civil Equality today announced the launch of an online portal. The portal will address the grievances of the people of the conflict-affected areas falling under the Russian-occupied region.
It is to be specifically mentioned that this online portal will serves the needs of conflict-affected citizens. These people lives in the Russian-occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) regions of the country and face multiple problems under hostile circumstances.
The online portal will be ready to provide essential services next month. According to sources familiar with the development the new online portal can be used by the communities of these regions to avail many services. They will be able to receive services and benefits in healthcare, education, business development, civic services and many other sectors.
While making the announcement about this new development Minster added “It is always the priority of Georgia’s Government to protect the interests of people living in these areas. Moreover taking care of the citizens living in the regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali and implementing measures to improve their social and economic situation is one of the main dimensions of the peace policy of the Government of Georgia. This is part of the unchanging priority of the government aimed to uplift the standard of living of people living in these areas.
It should also be added that the online portal was developed on the initiative of the Office of the State Minister. This significant project will also involve other ministries. Moreover non-governmental organizations, civil society and international partners will also provide the necessary support for the project’s success.
The content of the online portal will be available in Georgian, English, Abkhaz, and Ossetian for the convenience of the maximum number of people. The Minister also added that in the future more steps will be taken to improve the welfare of these people. She also said that the government is committed to working for their overall development same as the people of other areas.
