A new regional non-surgical waste disposal facility was built within the framework of the Lower Kartli Solid Waste Management Project. The object will serve five municipalities of the region: Tsalka, Tetritskaro, Marneuli, Bolnisi, and Dmanisi. The project is funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The Georgian Solid Waste Management Company shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on February 5, 2026, Thursday. The Company also shared a small note about the meeting along with its highlights.
During the commissioning of the site, the issues of the smooth and effective operation of the waste disposal stations and the non-hazardous waste disposal facility were discussed.
The meeting was attended by the Georgian Solid Waste Management Company and the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, as well as the State Trustee in Lower Kartli and mayors of Lower Kartli municipalities.
It should be noted that on January 20, 2026, in accordance with the Georgian government’s provision N2283, service contracts were signed with local governments regarding the use of a new regional non-threatening waste disposal facility.
The new facility and improved operation of the network of waste disposal stations will contribute to the implementation of a modern, environmentally standard waste management system in the region.
A new regional non-hazardous landfill has been constructed within the Kvemo Kartli Solid Waste Management Project. The facility will serve the municipalities of Tsalka, Tetritskaro, Marneuli, Bolnisi, and Dmanisi and is financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
On January 20, 2026, in accordance with the Government of Georgia Order No. N2283, service agreements were signed with the municipalities for the use of the landfill. The new landfill and the associated waste transfer network will contribute to the establishment of a modern and environmentally compliant waste management system in the Kvemo Kartli region.
