Tbilisi: Pawel Herczynski, the newly appointed European Union(EU) ambassador, presented his credentials to the foreign minister of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili on Friday. The discussions regarding ‘wide range’ of cooperation between the European Union and Georgia that, included the European Council’s decision to grant the country the European perspective was held at the meeting between them.Â
The Georgian foreign minister Darchiashvili informed the ambassador about the process of fulfilling the action plan for the 12-point conditions that the European Union had put forward to Georgia to meet to acquire its status as a ‘candidate’ of the union. The discussions regarding the Georgia-EU council set to be held in Brussels on Tuesday.
The participation of the Georgian foreign minister at the two-day informal Gymnic format meeting of the European Union foreign ministers , that was held in Prague, received a warm welcome from the head of EU delegation. The Georgian foreign ministry reported after the meeting.
The sides also discussed the current scenario at the Russian-occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) regions of Georgia. Along with the role that European Union would play in ensuring stability and peace at the Black Sea was also discussed at the meeting.Â
On this note, the ambassador Herczynsk from EU, ensured an ‘unwavering support for the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
