Two hundred Teachers get training on Environment and Agrarian Education in Georgia

The Georgian Center for Environmental Information and Education of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture Under the framework of the program "Environmental and Agrarian Education in School" Trianed two thousand teachers. These teachers were trained on the issues of environment and agriculture.

Tbilisi: The Georgian Center for Environmental Information and Education of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture Under the framework of the program “Environmental and Agrarian Education in School” Trianed two thousand teachers. These teachers were trained on the issues of environment and agriculture.

This was held In order to integrate environmental and agrarian issues into the learning process at school level. At this occassion primary level teachers and curriculum experts were regularly trained on the concerned topics. Director of the Center for Environmental Information and Education Tamar Aladashvili met trained teachers handed out certificates and supporting textbooks, and encouraged them to do their best to make children aware on Environmental and Agrarian Education at School.

Tamar Aladashvili said,” The main aim of Training of the Center for Environmental Information and Education was to help teachers to implement a variety of activities in the learning process in environmental and agrarian spheres at the school level. It is a welcoming step that representatives of the educational sector are actively involved in the training process”.

 On this occasion, a manual for teachers under the head of 

“Environmental and Agrarian Education at School” was well prepared at the Environmental Information and Education Center. The textbook now covers important aspects of environmental and agrarian education which can be easily adapted for primary (Class I-VI) students. 

 At the same time, Through the program, young people are gaining basic knowledge on important issues, which include sustainable development, biodiversity protection, water resources protection, air pollution, climate change and natural hazards reduction, waste management, land management and fighting against desertion, sustainable agriculture, food safety and quality.

The Center for Environmental Information and Education of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture first time started the process of training teachers within the framework of the “Environmental and Agrarian Education at School” program in 2021. Till now, around 6,000 elementary school teachers have already been trained.

The organisers of the training session said that this would help the teachers to understand the various concepts relating to agrarian and environmental protection. Trained teachers will further be able to teach the school children the importance of environment protection and agriculture.

It is worth mentioning that in the last few decades, many national-level programs have been launched by the Georgian government to protect the flora and fauna of the country. At the international level, a number of countries are also actively working on the concept of climate change.

Recently in Dubai city of United Arab Emirates 28th session of the COP (Conference of Parties) Was held. This is a global initiative to initiate joint action with the involvement of all state and private sector agencies.

With the disturbance of climate change the agriculture sector is also facing many difficulties. Disturbed weather impacted the production negatively.

Trained teachers after the completion of the training session, said that this was a great initiative by the centre. They also demanded that more such kind of events and training sessions should be held in future.
