As many parts of Georgia are under the attack of Heavy Snowfall many roads have been blocked. Due to snowfall traffic on many roads has been diverted as well.

It is specifically mentioned that due to severe weather conditions, cleaning works for motorways are being carried out intensively. Snow removal equipment has been mobilised in all directions by the concerned department. Snow from all the roads is being removed so that the motor vehicle movement can be restored in the shortest time.

At this time as a result of intensive snow cleaning works traffic on the international highway Khashuri-Akhaltsikhe-Vale has been fully restored. Similarly, all types of motor transport movement have been restored on the Vaziani-Gombori-Telavi road of 37-KM (Tetriskalebi-Verona) section and on the 26th km of the domestic Chokhatauri-Bakhmaro road.

There are still some Special transportation modes that remain on the following motorways:

Due to the high level of maritime danger and risk for driving on the Gudauri (Post) – Kobi section of the international importance Mtskheta-Stefantsminda-Larsi motorway, all types of traffic movement is prohibited till further order.

At the same time due to the snowstorm and snow all types of motor vehicles have also been prohibited on the Akhaltsikhe-Ninotsminda highway km90-km112 section. Traffic movement is free on the rest of the road for all types of vehicles.

Snowfall also hit the traffic in other areas so due to snow on the domestic Sachkhere (Sareki)-Uzunta-Shkmeri-Zudali road and also on the Kutaisi (Martyrs)-Tibuli-Ambrolauri road km39-km52 (Nakerala Pass) section it is forbidden to move trailer and semi-trailer road, and the rest of the road is free for vehicle traffic.

It is to be added that because of heavy snow and ice on the Gomi-Sachkhere-Chiatura-Zestafoni domestic road, it is prohibited to move trailer and semi-trailer vehicles, but for other types of vehicles, there is no restriction.

In severe meteorological conditions, including intense snow, blizzards, and limited visibility, all types of motor vehicles are prohibited on the section of the domestic code-Parshisi-Manglisi-Tsalka-Ninotsminda road km94-km110 (Paravan Pass). Traffic movement is free on the other sections of the road for light, medium and heavy vehicles.

The weather department also provided information that due to snow and ice the Movement of trailers semi-trailers and buses with a capacity of more than 30 seats on the domestic Zugdidi-Jvari-Mestia-Lasdili highway km30-km185 (Jvari-Ushguli) section has been stopped, and on the km90-km185(Dzi-Ushguly) section movement of light vehicle movement is allowed with the use of anti-sliding chains.

High-performance motor transport (with two or more leading bridges) movement is also free on this route. Traffic movement is free on the road km1-km30 (Zugdidi-Jvari) section for light vehicles.

Heavy equipment like a snowcutter was engaged by the road department to clear the roads to make the traffic movement smooth and safe.

On the other hand social media users expressed mixed reactions. Some appreciated the road-clearing work whereas some also complained that many roads were still closed. There was some social media user who also posted their queries regarding the situation in a particular area and wanted to know when the situation would be normal.

Gulo Svanidze commented, “Two Kinkila cleaners were driving on the section from Igoeti to Shorapana. How do you write, cleaning works are going on intensive mode?!”.

Another user commented that we salute the workers of the department who are working day and night for the smooth traffic arrangements.
