The presentation of the statistical research report on Georgian Theater carried out by the Modern Georgian Theater Research Center with the support of the Ministry of Culture was held at the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia.
The event was attended by Georgian Minister of Culture and Sports Thea Tsulukiani, research authors, theatre scientists, leaders and representatives of participating theatres, and other guests.
With the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia, researchers of the Modern Georgian Theater Research Center – theatre scientists Lasha Chkhartishvili, Nutsa Kobaidze, Tamta Kajaia and Anastasia Chernetsova – prepared a statistical research report on Georgian Theater, which includes data of 41 state, municipal and private theatres in the last two years, based on up to twenty points.
It is worth noting that this is the first time that the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia is the author and supporter of the statistical research of Georgian Theater, which has been going on since 2012.
The study presents ratings of Georgian theatres based on premieres throughout the year, performances, tickets sold, attending audience, active performances in the repertoire, hall busyness, and local or international tours.
The study reveals each Theater’s leading play, funding sources for premiere productions and the year’s most productive directors, actors, screenwriters, composers and choreographers.
According to the document:
The study aims to present active and effectively functioning theatres, which develop Georgian Theater, identify and eliminate problems in the field, promote the theatre work and provide a clear presentation in society.
Georgian Ministry of Culture and Sports thanks participating theatres for participating in the research.
