Tbilisi: The employees of the Department of Environmental Supervision of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture checked the quality of car fuel in order to reduce and prevent the spread of harmful substances in the atmospheric air. This was to ensure the pure quality of the fuel in the country.

It is to be specifically mentioned that during this drive to ensure the quality of fuel the officials of the department across the country have taken almost 80 samples of diesel fuel. At the same time the official also took a sample of 20 units of motor from 100 bus stations across the many parts of the country.

It is noteworthy that laboratory research found abnormalities in 28 samples. Moreover, the fuel quality did not meet legislative standards in 25 tests of diesel fuel and three gasoline. Similarly, 12 of these samples were violated with non-permitted content, and ten samples showed inconsistency with the established norm for explosion temperature as well. In some cases, several parameters were violated simultaneously.

On occasion, the Department of Environmental Supervision employees have filed cases of administrative violations against violators. The total fine is more than 2 million GEL. The case materials were sent to the relevant courts for further consideration.

The department regularly implements fuel quality control at gas stations to minimise the use of non-conditioned fuel, which in turn significantly reduces the emissions of harmful substances into the atmospheric air.

The official used the glass bottles for taking the sample and to use it for impurity identification as well. All the samples were sealed and taken to the laboratory for chemical examination. The official also stated that to ensure the quality of fuel there are many measures are being taken.

The department has launched many successful drives against polluting vehicles, and many vehicles have been fined recently for violating pollution norms.
