Joint forum of Sagarejo, Marneuli held at Technical University of Georgia

The Joint Forum of the Sagarejo and Marneuli municipalities was held at the Technical University of Georgia. It had three sessions that discussed various municipal issues including the economy, tourism etc.

The Joint Forum of the Sagarejo and Marneuli municipalities was held at the Technical University of Georgia. It had three sessions that discussed various municipal issues including the economy, tourism etc.

It is to be specifically mentioned that Sagarejo and Marneuli municipalities officially joined the European Festival Cities Platform in 2023 by signing the memorandum.

However based on the mentioned cooperation within the Silk Road Culture Hub and the European Festival Association and European Festival Cities a “Platform of Culture, Wine and Technology Cities” has been created. This platform will contribute significantly to the popularisation of the two municipalities – Sagarejo and Marneuli, maintenance of cultural identity and economic development.

During the forum the invited guests were addressed by the Mayor of Sagarejo Municipality, Avtandil Gulikashvili, Chairman of Sakrebulo Alexi Gilashvili, State Commissioner of Kakheti, Giorgi Aladashvili, Government Commissioner of Lower Kartli Giorgi Dokhturishvili and Mayor of Marneuli Municipality Kenan Omarov. The forum was led by the Rector of the Technical University of Georgia David Gurgenidze.

Notably the forum consisted of three sessions. One of the sessions was dedicated to reviewing the economy, tourism potential and cultural history of Sagarejo Municipality. This session was presented by the Department of Tourism Development, Foreign Relations and International Projects of Sagarejo Municipal Hall. The presentation was held under the head “Sagarejo-Forever in memory” on this occassion as well.

On the other hand in the summary and discussion section, representatives of Sagarejo and Marneuli Municipality talked about the city’s future plans and implementation projects as a member of the European Festival Cities Platform.

Heads of Georgia’s central and local governments and delegates from 10 countries participated in a joint forum organised by municipalities. They discussed the various ways to boost tourism in the country and agreed to bring more transparency to the workings of municipalities across the country.
