Solomon Pavliashvili the deputy minister of Environment and Agriculture recently met with the representative of the Manufacturer’s Extended Commitment (MGV) Organisation. The meeting was held to discuss the various aspects of the agriculture-related topics.
It is to be specifically mentioned that the meeting discussed the work done by organizations in the direction of waste collection and recycling. Both issues of waste management and recycling are big in the country and many initiatives have been launched in this direction to solve the problem of waste management and recycling.
At the same time the emphasis was also laid down on the importance of creating massive manufacturing enterprises, importing modern technologies, and searching for realization markets for manufactured products across the globe.
Solomon Pavliashvili speaking on the occasion said “Fostering organizations’ expanded commitment to manufacturers and supporting the development of opportunities is particularly important for the Georgia. Waste collection and recycling projects are very important and significant, but there is a need to support the creation and development of high-tech waste processing plants to address the growing challenge as well. Our goal is to support MGV organizations in projects that will be sustainable, contribute to the development of recycling production in the country, as well as to operate modern technologies, and produce quality products that can be exported to the EU market. I would like to note that the task of the state is to develop all the circles of the waste recycling system and to operate effectively which will contribute to the development of the green economy in the country”.
On the other hand, the representatives of MGV organizations noted that “the initiative is timely and relevant because the development of the waste recycling sector will be difficult without the cooperation and support of the state government. At the first stage it may not be possible to fully recycle the waste in the country but it is important to maximize the existing potential and implement waste management strategies at the primary recycling site.
The representatives also said at the meeting that one year has passed and it has clearly shown both the potential and challenges in terms of waste collection-recycling in the country. The meeting was attended by representatives of the relevant departments of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture.
