The NGO(Non-Governmnet organization) of Georgia namely “Rights Georgia” has announced to hold the protest against the passing of the foreign agent’s bill. They termed the proposed law as the Russian law.
The NGO shared information on their Facebook and stated” At 19:00, at the parliament – yes to Europe, not to Russian law!.” According to the NGO representative for many weeks the members of the civil society have been explaining in detail why the Russian law is unconstitutional, This law if passed in the second reading will end Georgian democracy, and deliberately cause damage to the common national pursuit of integration into the European Union.
They also said that “ This law is totally against the values of the country. The government sees the West as the biggest enemy to make the country a Russia’s slave, but the people of the country will not let it happen, therefore we are going to hold a significant protest against this illegal law.”
The government is again planning to discuss the law in the second reading. Therefore we, the members and citizens of the civil society of this country decided to oppose the move.
- We will oppose the attempt to pass the law in the second reading, Moroever we will force the government to understand that the European Union will be the choice of the Georgian people.
- We demand and expect all the political parties to fulfill their duty to the people and to fight even more firmly in the parliament.
- We like to invite everyone who thinks this law is wrong and will cause huge damage to the country’s aspiration towards Europe to gather at 19:00.
We are closely monitoring the situation for a long time. We will do our best to uphold the constitutional values of the country. This is the only way forward to make the country a member of the European Union shortly to protect the interest of all the citizens of Georgia.
