As the wine agency of Georgia is making many efforts for the promotion of the Georgian wine a group of 17 wine professionals from Canada visited Georgia recently. They were apprised of the old wine production culture of Georgia as well as the process of winemaking.
The National Wine Agency of Georgia supported the visit of the Canadian delegation. The Canadian delegation during their visit also visited the wine production companies and the family wineries in the Kakheti region of Georgia as well.
Moreover they also got acquainted with the technology of kvevari production. At the same time a special dedicated wine tasting of 20 different companies was held specially for them in Tbilisi.
It is worth mentioning that the members expressed their desire that they are highly interested in finding new partners in Georgia which will have a direct impact on increasing the awareness and export of Georgian wine in the Canadian market.
Speaking specifically about his Georgian visit sommelier Alex McMahon stated “This is my first visit to the wine home of the world. Georgia is a really beautiful country and which is also famous for wine, especially natural wines. Tasting the amber and Kvevari wine was a special as well as a very emotional experience. Our members of the delegation also visited beautiful places and tasted the traditional cuisine of Georgia. We also saw many beautiful lakes during our visit and got information about tourism opportunities, especially wine tourism. We here also tasted on world’s best wines and best examples is amber wines in the world.”
Georgia’s national wine agency has the responsibility to promote Georgian wine across the globe through the implementation of a number of different measures. Since the beginning of the year 2013 many initiatives have been taken by the national wine agency in this direction as well.
The representative of the agency also said that more such initiatives will be taken in the future as well for expanding the market of Georgian wine at the world level as well.
