Tbilisi: The 16th edition of the WinExpo has witnessed the participation of more than two hundred companies. The 16th International Wine and alcoholic beverages exhibition festival opened on June 8 and will go on for three days.
WinExpo 2024 is being organized by the National Wine Agency of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, and the venue of the event is ExpoGeorgia. It is to be specifically mentioned that the exhibition provides a great opportunity to showcase the products of large and medium-sized wine-producing companies as well. Yuri Nozadze, the Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture opened the event.
Resan Kikawa director of the ExpoGeorgia Exhibition Center and Tick Atkin, the British Master of Wine, attended the important event. Speaking specifically about the importance of the event Yuri Nozadze said, “This is the best platform for all the stakeholders who are associated with the wine industry. They include wine-producing companies, importers, and entrepreneurs. The platform gives the chance to the wine industry experts to expand their market across the borders by establishing their bond with the international companies.”
Yuri Nozadze also added that “ it is good to see that the country’s wine industry is witnessing the highest growth in recent years. Many new companies are entering the market. Moreover, the export of Georgian wine is also increasing every year.”
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture has been supporting many measures to boost the marketing of Georgian wine since last year and has committed to that support will continue in the future.”
It should be noted that at this event, the international wine experts will evaluate about 220 Georgian wines. The winners will be announced in several categories, and gold, bronze, and silver medals will be awarded. It is worth noting that Georgia is known as the homeland of Georgia. The traditional, century-old wine-producing method called qvevri is still in practice in many hinterland areas of the country.
