Since 2022, the Ministry of Culture has started translating and publishing rare books into Georgian. Given this critical priority needed to promote the learning process, “Ten Books about Architecture” was published in Georgian.

This work of Vitruvius has been translated and published in many languages, and the country with the oldest construction traditions, told by historical teachers, did not have “ten books about architecture” in the Georgian language. This publication, which will help Georgian students, architects, and architect-restraining professionals develop their professional skills and deepen their knowledge, is an essential acquisition of Georgian culture.

The initiator of the project and the scientific editor of the publication is Georgian Honored Architect-Restorer Tariel Kiparoidze, translator – Nino Khutsishvili, editors – Tsisana Todua-Kartozia and Elza Nabakhteveli, designer – Maka Tsomaia.

FYI: Roman architect and engineer Marcus Vitruvius BC wrote the work “Ten Books About Architecture” in the first century. From Christmas to today, the Book of Architecture has been a source of training young people to be architects and defends the architectural creed with the Vitruvius Triad—” firmness, benefit, beauty.”

Scholars consider Greek architecture to be a monument and an apologetic. The Italian Renaissance is based on Vitruvius’s work, which was printed in 1486. It is noteworthy that Vitruvius’s work describes the technology used to build the Kolkata tower in detail.

Renaissance Titans were familiar with the tract, for whom Vitruvius became an authority. It’s not a coincidence that Leonardo Da Vinci created a well-known “Vitruvius Man” graphic image with comments. It is also noted that the famous Renaissance author Leon Batista Alberti called his tract “Ten Books on Architecture”.
