Georgia: PM  congratulates USA on Independence Day

Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of Georgia  congratulated and bestowed best wishes on behalf of the citizens of the Georgia to USA (United States of America). The USA is commemorating the 248th independent ceremony on Wednesday.

Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of Georgia  congratulated and bestowed best wishes on behalf of the citizens of the Georgia to USA (United States of America). The USA is commemorating the 248th independent ceremony on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister in his congratulatory message, stated,“ This year is a very important day as the USA is celebrating the  248th anniversary since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.” While speaking to media representatives at an event held on the occasion   Kobakhidze also said that the Georgian ruling party is always looking for a stable relationship with the United States of America. He also recalled how some misconceptions have ruined the relationship between both countries for a long time.”

Prime Minister while underlining the role of the USA in international politics said that the USA  plays an important role in world politics so we cannot ignore the significance attached to this special day of independence. This day is especially important for us as Georgia has had a strategic relationship with the USA for a long time, and we cannot underestimate the importance of this relationship.

 

PM  speaking further  specifically said “ On this special day  I would repeat again that we want strong and stable relations with almost every country  and the USA is on the top of the list of those countries.” In the past  incidents have damaged our relationship to some extent  but I am optimistic that this time of the bitter diplomatic relationship will be over very soon as well.”

 

On the other hand  the official of the Government while commenting on the message of the Prime Minister said that Georgia is on standby mode and eagerly   waiting for the reciprocal steps. PM also added that he is very hopeful that the sincere efforts in this direction  will improve the relations between both countries. He also underlined that the relations between both countries are very much for the mutual benefit of both countries as well.

It is worth mentioning that since the reintroduction of the foreign agent law  the USA has been very vocal in criticising Georgia’s move and has demanded the repeal of the law.
