Georgia: The mayor of Rustavi, Nino Latsabidze, attended the ninth meeting dedicated to the day of the expansion of the European Union organized by the Regional Committee of Europe in Brussels and gave a speech on the panel on the topic “Process of expansion of local and regional governments.”
Nino Latsabidze focused on successful reforms in recent years, strengthening Georgia’s self-government and decentralization process and providing government and parliamentary support.
During his speech at the conference dedicated to the day of the European Union enlargement in Brussels, Rustavi Mayor Nino Latsabidze said, “Today is a crucial period for my country on the road to the European Union. It is even more responsible to discuss municipal reforms that will undoubtedly bring us closer to European standards and enable us to become a full member of the European family. Your support in this journey is invaluable,” he emphasized, making the audience feel valued and integral to Georgia’s EU membership aspirations.”
“Today, my country has approved the decentralization plan. The process is underway, and we are implementing reforms in municipalities at a rapid pace to improve services on-site, ready to meet new delegations and deliver them effectively, “she noted.
“For the first time, at the municipal level, we have created a reform center in Rustavi, where together with our team, we have begun to analyze the services in a new way. Reforms and projects are being implemented at central and local levels to make people live with more dignity in our cities and villages. The Georgian government and local self-governments strengthen the country, whose course is European. We want, with our values, with our unique language that we are listening to now and by protecting Georgian traditions, to become full-fledged members of the big European family,” Rustavi mayor stated.
