Georgia: Nugzar Antelava has been appointed as the Director of the Cherkezian (Adigeuri) Culture Center, a prominent institution dedicated to preserving and promoting the Cherkezian (Adigeuri) culture and heritage.
The Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia expresses confidence in Nugzar Antelava’s ability to lead the Cherkezian (Adigeuri) Cultural Center. They congratulate him on his appointment and wish him a successful and fruitful tenure.
Nugzar Antelava was a Professor of History at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. History Sciences Dr. Nugzar Antelava has been appointed Director of the Center of Culture of SIP Cherkezuli (Adigeuri).
Nugzar Antelava was educated at Tbilisi State University, named after Ivane Javakhishvili (Faculty of History, Postgraduate Degree—Ethnology). He has been lecturing at the same university since 2011.
He explores the problems of ethnic history and culture of Georgian and Caucasian people and is the author of 110 works, including 10 monographs.
With a wealth of experience, Nugzar Antelava has been a coordinator at the Cherkese (Adigeur) Cultural Center since 2012. He has also served as the deputy director of the State Museum of Georgian Folk Presence and Culture named after Giorgi Chitaia, and as the coordinator of the Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti side of the Regional Management Service of the President of Georgia (1993-2001). His leadership roles also include deputy chairman of the Abkhazian Writers’ Union and others.
Under Nugzar Antelava’s leadership, a number of successful projects have been implemented in cooperation with the Rustaveli National Scientific Foundation. Notable among them are the publication of the Ethnolinguistic Encyclopedia of Georgian Culture and the Explanatory Dictionary of Ethnolinguistic Terms. These projects have significantly contributed to the preservation and promotion of Georgian culture.
He received the Ilia Chavchavadze State Museum Award “Saguramo” and the Giorgi Sharvashidze State Award (Government of Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia).
