Nunu Mickevich participated in symposium dedicated to 100th anniversary of Technical University of Georgia

Georgia: With the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, a jubilee symposium dedicated to the 100th anniversary was held at the Technical University of Georgia, in which the Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Nunu Mickevich, took part. 

Nunu Mickevich welcomed the audience, congratulated the scientific community of the Technical University of Georgia on behalf of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli, and wished them success in their future activities.

As Nunu Mickevich pointed out, all the important successes that the Technical University of Georgia has achieved not only in the country but also internationally are priceless. According to the deputy minister, with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and in cooperation with the world’s leading institutions, the university will further expand international scientific ties and implement a number of successful research projects.

At the symposium, the students of the Technical University of Georgia, accompanied by the international student anthem, presented the historical documents of the establishment of the university.

Within the framework of the event, the representatives of the Patriarchate of Georgia presented the “Order of St. George” to the Rector of the Technical University of Georgia, Professor Davit Gurgenidze. In turn, the Rector awarded the title of an honorary doctorate of the Technical University of Georgia to famous Georgian and foreign scientists for their special contribution to the promotion and development of scientific cooperation. Meritorious employees of the academic and scientific circles of the Technical University of Georgia and Georgian and foreign scientists were awarded the “gold medal” of the university.

In the final part of the solemn symposium, the men’s public chapel of the Technical University of Georgia, “Mravalzamierit”, performed in front of the audience. In the end, the students moved the university-historical documents from the hall to the university museum, accompanied by the international student anthem.

The event was also attended by representatives of various Georgian and European universities, honoured guests from international scientific centres, including scientists from the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) and the Japanese High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK).
