Tbilisi: The representatives and official of Georgian personal data protection service attended 74th meeting of the International Working Group on Data Protection in the Field of Technology (IWGDPT). The working meeting was organised by the Berlin Working Group.
The event was hosted by the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) at the European Parliament building in Brussels, Belgium. The large number of attendees from across the world attended this important meeting as well.
The Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia was represented at the meetings by Archil Javelidze Head of the Private Sector Supervision Department, Beka Meladze who is Lawyer of the Private Sector Supervision Department, Nino Khubulia Coordinator of International Relations and Legal Issues of the International Relations, Analytics and Strategic Development Department and Nino Tsagareishvili.
Researcher-Analyst of the International Relations, Analytics and Strategic Development Department were also present in the meeting as well. The participants of meeting attended number of issues.
Some of important issues includes the digital identity and privacy. Neurosymbolic artificial intelligence; Neurodata processing using modern technologies; Machine learning, etc. it is also to be added that the participants of the “Berlin Working Group” had the opportunity to share their opinions and experience in the direction of technological progress.
The Representatives of supervisory authorities of various countries participating in the meeting, including the Personal Data Protection Service, presented special reports in order to share practice, which included news related to the issues under discussion.
It is noteworthy that in June 2025, the Personal Data Protection Service will host the 75th meeting of the “Berlin Group” at which the current challenges and trends in the protection of personal data and privacy will be discussed.
The agency was established with a view to protect the personal data of users. In the present time of social media, the issues of data protection become very important. Cyber criminal used to steal sensitive personal information of the online users for personal interest.
The Georgian data protection agency is also working in coordination of many regional and international agencies to protect the data of users also.
