One person booked for non-reporting of a serious offence by Prosecution office

The representative of the Georgian prosecution office has now booked one person for not reporting a severe offense under various provisions of the Georgian criminal code.

Tbilisi: As all citizens are responsible for informing law enforcement agencies about serious crimes, but some people intentionally do not report such incidents. The representative of the Georgian prosecution office has now booked one person for not reporting a severe offense under various provisions of the Georgian criminal code.

 

It is to be added that the Special Investigation Service conducted the investigation in this regard. The investigation established that on July 29  a serious crime happened in the village of Aten.  The village aten falls under the area of  Gori Municipality. In the fight between the offenders  the inspector of the Special Tasks Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs seriously injured the victim’s health. He was taken to hospital later on for the treatment. Moreover  the accused also witnessed the whole crime scene.

It is to be noted that at this stage of the investigation  it was established that the accused   present on  the occasion  when the commission of a severe crime happened. Still  he did not report it to the relevant authorities under the provisions of the law as he was supposed to report.

 

As it was clear that the accused refused to appear before the investigative body  he was charged in absentia under Article 376, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (failure to report a serious crime). Now, as per the legal provisions, the prosecutor’s office will apply to the court within the time limit established by the law with a motion to extend the accused ‘s imprisonment as a preventive measure.

 

It is also to be added that in the mentioned criminal case  one person is accused of intentional serious injury to health, and he was charged under Article 117, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (intentional serious injury to health, i.e. life-threatening bodily injury). The accused has already been imprisoned as a preventive measure.  The investigation of the criminal case in the Special Investigation Service continues to disclose other details.
