The Georgian Minister for Environment Protection and Agriculture, Otar Shamugia expressed hopes for bumper grape productions while sharing the government schemes . He said that our goal is to provide growers with opportunities to increase their income.
The Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Otar Shamugia who visited the vineyard of Ekaterine Mirinashvili in the village of Shielda Kvareli municipality said this during his interaction with grape and wine producers.
Ekaterine Mirinashvili planted grapes of the Saferavi variety on an area of ​​1 hectare almost five years ago with the support of the state and grant financing and he has already received the second harvest. Like last year  the winegrower will deliver the grapes to the wine factory this year, however in the future he plans to produce and export the wine himself.
Ekaterine Mirianashvili  while speaking further on the occasion added “This year the harvest is excellent both in terms of quality and quantity. Of course  our hard work was reflected in the result and the grapes are of outstanding quality.
I planted a vineyard with the support of the state five years ago  and it is already in full production. I don’t have my wine production yet  but I plan to have it in the future. At this stage I deliver the grapes to factories that produce wines.
Otar Shamugia  while sharing his thoughts spoke about the importance of the support that has contributed to the development of the field of viticulture and winemaking in Georgia. He particularly noted the hard work of the winegrowers, emphasizing that their efforts are crucial to the industry’s success.
The state support is implemented both at the stage of production and sale, with the acceptance and delivery of grapes carried out on the basis of the viticulture cadastre.
It should be noted that according to the data of the National Vineyard Cadastre Program  which was implemented in 2014-2023, the area of ​​vineyards has almost doubled compared to 2012. Up to 50,000 hectares are planted in the country’s viticulture regions and more than 170,000 plots of which more than 475,000 winegrowers are registered this year as well.
