Georgia: The Minister of Environment and Agriculture, Otar Shamugia, and State Trustee in Imereti Zviad Shalamberidze got acquainted with the work process of enterprises funded by state programs in the village of Khoni municipality.
In Gocha Jikhai, the company “Agro Veli” owns a 32-hectare blueberry plantation, and the company expects a harvest of 120-130 tons in the 2024 season. In parallel with the active harvesting, blueberries are exported to the Federal Republic of Germany. There are 20 employees constantly and 300 seasonally on the blueberry plantation.
LLC “Agroveli” is a beneficiary of state programs. Within the “Plant the Future” program framework, 500,000 GEL, 3.5 million GEL under the subsidized agro credit, and 12,000 GEL have been acquired under the technical assistance program.
The company is a beneficiary of the Rurl Development Agency programs “Plant Future,” “Technical Assistance Program,” and the “Discounted Agrocredit” project.
In the Imereti region, more than 22 million GEL has been distributed to grow blueberries; the Rural Development Agency’s co-financing will exceed 4 million GEL.
Throughout Georgia, within the program “Plant Future” framework, 50.4 million Gel co-financed the cultivation of blueberries on 2,864 hectares. Among them, the cultivation of blueberries on 581 hectares in the Imereti region is co-financed by 10.4 million Gel.
Throughout Georgia, the subsidized agro credit issued to grow blueberries exceeds 162 million GEL, while the Rural Development Agency funds the interest rate of the loan at 29 million GEL.
