Georgia: In the city of Ozurgeti, one of the central Kostava street renovation works is in the final phase. As part of the urban renewal project, the 1500-meter-long walkway is being reconstructed, and new asphalt concrete pavement, drainage system, sidewalks, bike paths, and landscaping works will be carried out.
Exterior lighting is being changed, and the rehabilitation-reconstruction of the water system, street electricity, and natural gas network is being carried out.
“Finished, ongoing, and planned urban renewal projects in Ozurgeti are significant for the city. These types of projects will add an extra charge to Ozurgeti’s potential and create new opportunities for both the population and the private sector. Extensive engineering works have been carried out in the direction of renewing drains and different types of communication. Relevant engineering networks have gone completely underground,” said the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Irakli Karseladze, after acquiring the infrastructure projects completed and ongoing on Kostava Street in Ozurgeti.
He also shared his vision, stating, “It is important to complete the rehabilitation of recreational spaces – parks, where besides recreational functions, there are recreation and entertainment areas for different age groups, cafe, and other interesting infrastructure. This creates new opportunities for both the private sector and the population to receive new services,” said the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Irakli Karseladze, after acquiring the infrastructure projects completed and ongoing on Kostava Street in Ozurgeti.”
The Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is carrying out the renovation of Kostava Street. The works were financed by 7.6 million Gel from the state budget.
Within the framework of the state program “Renewed Regions,” the Ozurgeti Culture and Recreation Park and the surrounding buildings were rehabilitated with pedestrian bollocks, outdoor lights, and recreational and children’s entertainment areas.
The urban renewal projects have changed the appearance of the city’s central streets, creating new spaces of attraction for both residents and visitors.
