Natia Goliadze, the Deputy Mayor of the Ozurgeti municipality, visited the Lazikamed Academy on Tuesday. She was there to learn in detail about children with special needs, especially those who are suffering from autistic spectrum disorder.
During her visit here, she informs the attendees of various programs and projects launched for the welfare of these children.
The Ozurgeti municipality also took to their social media handle and stated that “ Deputy Mayor of Ozurgeti Natia Goliadze was at Lazikamed Academy today. She got detailed information about the needs of children on the autistic spectrum and spoke with the parents of beneficiaries”.
“We would like to remind you that this year, important projects and initiatives in the field of social and health care have been implemented in Ozurgeti; the City Hall has significantly increased the funding of the rehabilitation program for children with autistic spectrum disorders and financed 180 000 GEL” added municipality.
The mayor also said that various programmes with financial aid from the local budget have already been implemented. She also said that in the future, more such programs will be there so that these children can also live normal lives like other people.
It is to be specifically mentioned that during this visit there was an arrangement of presentation for all the attendees. In this dedicated presentation all the aspects of children were thoroughly discussed who were suffering from this disorder.
Attendees also discussed the measures that can be introduced in the future in collaboration with the private sector for the welfare of these children. The mayor encouraged everyone to contribute as much as they could for these children as they are also part of society.
It is worth mentioning that (ASD) Autism Spectrum Disorder is mental disability caused by a difference in brains. In some people this is caused by genetic issues, but in others the exact reason is not known yet.
These people face difficulties in learning. People with this disorder may behave, communicate, and learn in different forms from other people.Some children get affected by this problem at an early age, like three years, and then this problem remains throughout their lives.
With the new research and scientific advancement, there are some treatments available due to which some improvement can be achieved with a long-term treatment. The biggest challenge these children face is communication and social interaction with the general public.
As per the medical experts due to non non-availability of any medical test, the detection of this disorder at the initial stage is very difficult.
The mayor also had interaction with the staff members, and she also had personal interaction to get herself familer about the needs and challenges that need an immediate address.
She also said that staff members need to cooperate with these children so that they do not face any difficulty in the learning process. She also said that with united and coordinated efforts, we can help these children in many ways.
She also ensured the management of the academy that the Municipality was ready to help the academy in every effort towards the welfare of these children
At the conclusion of the visit, the management of the academy honours the mayor for her visit to the academy.
