The members of the Ozurgeti Youth Center participated in the exchange program, which was organized by the Ozurgeti Youth at the Kutaisi Youth Center on August 2 and 3. The also attended the seminar on “Gender Equality and Georgian Feminist Women.”
It is worth mentioning that the project’s main goal is to promote an equal environment for all people irrespective of their gender. This will also aim to raise awareness of gender issues. The role of feminist women who have contributed significantly to the development of a democratically minded society and the protection of women’s rights were also discussed.
The attendees also discussed issues such as gender equality, gender roles and norms, historical aspects of women’s rights, women’s movements and Georgian feminist women. The training was conducted in an interactive mode and included interesting role-playing games. The participating members also got the opportunity to ask questions to the key speakers of the event.
At the same time under the framework of the project a presentation of the board game “Feminist” was organized. This included important stories about women working in various fields. Similarly the second day was dedicated to the village visit.
This was a visit to Dim with the founder of the community organization “Dimeli Women” Lili Fullarian. During the visit she also conducted a mini-lecture about “stubborn women” the beginnings of modern Georgian feminism and the importance of community initiatives.
At the end of the meeting a short documentary was organized. The movie untold Story was also screened and discussed. At the conclusion of the event the Ozurgeti Youth Centre extended special thanks to Kutaisi Youth Center the USAID Unity Through Diversity Program and Lily Fullarian for hosting.

Notably the partner organization of the program in the Guria region is the “Union of Young Teachers.” In the end the attendee of the group extended their gratitude to the organizer of the event as well.
