Tbilisi: Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of Georgia exercised his right to vote in the ongoing parliamentary elections. He said this was not an ordinary election but one that would decide the country’s future and pave the way for European Integration.

It is worth noting that the Georgian Dream-led current government is headed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. The Party has been ruling Georgia for the past 12 years. This time the party is hopeful to repeat the one another term.

After casting his vote, the prime minister expressed hopes that his party would come to power again for another term. The PM specifically said that the election process is very decisive and principled this year and everyone must use his vote without any fear or undue influence.

Notably two months ago  the President decided 26 October as election day. The election began in Georgia today at 8 AM. The President of Georgia was the first official voter who cast his vote after reaching a polling booth.

PM, as other party leaders have expressed, reiterated that this time election must be treated as a “referendum” which will give direction to the future of the country. He blamed opposition parties for creating a false narrative against the people of Georgia.

According to the Prime Minister, this is the first time that most voters have to cast votes using electronic machines. The use of electronic machines has been introduced to bring fairness and transparency to the whole election process as well.

The PM underlined that voters must elect between peace and war, false propaganda of opposition parties, and traditional values. They will have to choose between an unstable future or a safe one where everyone’s rights will be protected without bias.

The PM said the party is very optimistic again about the result of the election in our favour. This will ensure another safe future in the hands of Georgian Dream’s leadership.

PM also commented on opposition to adopting a foreign agent’s law. According to the Prime Minister, the law will not affect the performance of the Georgian Dream because it was introduced just to ensure transparency in the workings of NGOs.
