Under the leadership of the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Terrance Drew, the first consultative activity to construct the new climate-smart hospital was successfully conducted on July 22, 2024, at the JN France General Hospital.
The Prime Minister posted the news on his official Facebook page. He shared glimpses of the consultative meeting and wrote that the first consultative activity for constructing the new climate-smart hospital was held at the JNF General Hospital, with the leadership and other staff in attendance.
In his post, PM wrote, “I reinforced the need for a facility that could resist powerful hurricanes, be technologically savvy, be accredited, and deliver a high level of care to our people and others.”
He also said, “It’s important to note that we have made significant investments in the present hospital and are committed to continuing this support.”
Several improvements have been made and continue to be made at the current JNF General Hospital. PM Terrance Drew confirmed that the improvements enhance the existing infrastructure and ensure the hospital continues serving the patients with the best possible treatment.”
The Prime Minister stated that the Ministry of Health and OECC would continue to “work with a wide range of “people to obtain as many opinions and recommendations as possible.
He explained that this process ensures that the new JNF hospital will be a world-class patient care facility designed to meet industry best practices in patient-centered clinical treatment environments and operating efficiency.
However, as the project has been planned, several more consultation meetings and activities are expected to take place before further progress starts. The construction of this hospital will improve the country’s healthcare system, providing the residents with better healthcare facilities.
