Tbilisi: Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of Georgia addressed the Georgian Football Federation award ceremony. He congratulated all office-bearers of federation and players.
The PM in his speech underlined that, “The current year 2024 was the most successful year for Georgian football in the history of independent Georgia.” Prime Minister on this occasion thanked everyone who contributed to this success.
He specifically stated that, this year after a gap of 30 years, we qualified for the European Championship. The first official qualifying match was held in 1994 and exactly 30 years later Georgia qualified for the European Championship.
PM in his speech expressed special gratitude to each player and the Football Federation, who created a great success with their own hard work and dedication.
Moreover, PM separately noted the success of the youth team, which for the first time overcame the qualifying stage and qualified for the European Championship and also highlighted the achievements in women’s football of Georgia for their exceptional achievements.
He also expressed special gratitude to the President of the Football Federation, Levan Kobiashvili, the leadership of the Federation each employee and the coaches.
He mentioned that today Georgian football is at a completely different level of development. This is due to the fact that the Football Federation is being led by people who love and understand Georgian football best. Without this love for football and the competence of these people, such great success would not have been possible.
The PM, on behalf of the government, declared to the gathered public that everything will be done for the success of football in the future. He spoke about the plans of the Georgian government in terms of the development of mass sports and noted that great attention will be paid to high-achieving sports.
According to PM, We also have specific projects, such as a new stadium, which will allow us to host games including tournaments at the highest level. Such projects will also provide an additional incentive for the development of sports in the country.
