Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of republic of Georgia met recently with Zhou Qian. Zhou Qian is the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Georgia.
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze also shared glimpse of this meeting on his official social media handles. The official Facebook page of prime minister stated, “At the meeting, I once again expressed my condolences to the Ambassador for the devastating earthquake in China, which claimed many lives. I also during this meeting wished the injured a speedy recovery.”
The sources familiar with development said that the conversation touched upon cooperation in the areas envisaged by the Georgia-China Strategic Partnership Agreement and the positive dynamics of the development of trade and economic ties.
At the same time both sides also stressed that we need to implement more measures for the more stable and stronger relation in future. The Chinese Ambassador in this meeting extended his best wishes for another term of Georgian Dream in October 26 elections held last year.
It was noted that the free trade agreement and visa-free travel, as well as people-to-people ties, represent a good opportunity for the further development of bilateral relations were also discussed by Prime Minister with Chinese ambassador to Georgia.
PM after the meeting said that We confirmed our readiness to further strengthen result-oriented cooperation. I am sure Chinese government will also take more initiative in this direction as well. Notably both countries share strong bilateral relation since the year 1992. In that year both sides have established diplomatic relations officially.
The republic of Georgia was also part of Soviet Union. Later on, after the collapse of Soviet Union Georgia become a independent state and renamed itself as republic of Georgia. Since the resumption of bilateral diplomatic relation both counties also establish their embassy in each other country.
The Georgia and China also support each other political stand. Georgia support one China policy similarly China do not reconvince Russian sovereignty in areas under its illegal possession.
