Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Georgia spoke about the recently concluded election for parliament in Georgia in Budapest.
The PM addressed the crowd on the sidelines of the European Political Community Summit there. He denied that all allegations of election day fraud as baseless and without evidence.
The PM called this false propaganda created by opposition parties for vested interests and to defame the ruling regime of the Georgian Dream. He said his party, Georgian Dream is always committed to the upliftment of democratic values.
He also noted in his address that only twenty-five cases have been registered by a Non-Governmental Organisation, the International Society for Fair Election and Democracy. This number is negligible when the entire process has been completed peacefully.
As per the Prime Minister the chance of breaching voting secrecy is extremely low due to the use of voting machines. He also added that when the whole world is indirectly supervising the election process, such a huge violation of the vote code is not possible at all.
Moreover, just 25 cases of code do not reflect the truth. These 25 cases cannot be used by anyone to blame the government. On this occasion, Prime Minister referred to a poll violation incident reported in Moldova. In Moldova anti-social elements put the ballot paper in a transparent box without an envelope.
PM further highlighted that the whole election process was very peaceful, although some incidents happened which are also inevitable in such a large-scale electoral event.
While comparing Georgia’s election process with those of other countries such as Moldova and the United States of America, he said the elections in Georgia were more transparent than those in both countries. Only some opposition parties and organizations are creating a false narrative.
The Prime Minister also criticized Salome Zourabichvili and said that President failed to recognize the US State Department’s call to cooperate with investigation agencies. He said she did this because she had nothing important to submit to the Georgian prosecutor’s office, which shows how the Georgian Dream is being degraded.
