The local administration of the Poti municipality decided to have another free driving training course for women drivers. This course can be taken by any woman living in the municipality to get employed in the public or private sectors.
Poti City Hall provides information in this regard on its social media handles. As per the information shared on the official Facebook page, “ To get the right to drive a “D” category vehicle, participants have to undergo both theoretical and practical training being provided free of cost by municipality.”
The theoretical course will also include the study of driving, traffic rules, and safety instructions. In the practical training the participants will learn to drive and maneuver the bus both in a closed square and in the city. It is to be added that after successfully completing the course the participants will receive a certificate confirming their completion. In addition the course will include training for the basics of first aid, and participants will also receive a certificate confirming their relevant knowledge in medical assistance in case of emergency.
After successfully passing the exam women with a “D” category driver’s license will be able to be employed as bus drivers in both private and public transport companies. The course fully covers the costs of training , the fee for taking the test, the charges for the driving license, and transportation.
The training session will start on July 20, 2024 and last up to 15 days. Women who fulfill the following conditions can participate in this training session.
- citizen of Georgia
- resident of Poti municipality
- at least 24 years old
- has the right to drive a “B” category vehicle
- has at least 1 year of experience in driving a light vehicle (it is desirable but not mandatory to have experience in driving a vehicle with a manual transmission)
- does not have significant traffic violations allegations like accidents, drunken driving, etc
- Is ready to complete the training course and pass the relevant driving license test
Notably the Interested persons should submit the following documents by July 15 :
- photo/copy of ID card
- Photo/copy of “B” category driving license
Interested women can submit the application online through the link provided on the municipality’s Facebook page or by visiting its official website.
After reviewing the documents the interested women will undergo an interview and a test of driving skills. The training course for women as bus drivers is being implemented within the framework of the “Georgian Urban Transport Improvement Gender Advisory Service Program.”
