Poti Municipality launches free short-term  bus driving training course for women

The Poti Municipality of Georgia announced the launch of another free course for training women as bus drivers. The course is prepared for women living in Poti City Asveve, Poti municipality who want to master the profession of bus driver for more job opportunities.

The Poti Municipality of Georgia announced the launch of another free course for training women as bus drivers. The course is prepared for women living in Poti City Asveve, Poti municipality who want to master the profession of bus driver for more job opportunities.

As per the information to get the right to drive a “D” category vehicle the women participants will undergo theoretical and practical training during the course. The theoretical course under the training will include the training of bus driving skills, traffic rules, and safety instructions.

On the other hand as part of the practical training, the trainee learns the driving skill to control the heavy vehicle in the city.  Soon after the successful completion of the course, the participants will receive a certificate confirming completion of the course. The driving training also includes the basics of first aid and other medical techniques in case of emergency as well.

After completing the course the participants will be able to appear in an exam to get the right to drive a bus in the “D” category. The successfully passed women with “D” category driver’s licenses will be able to get jobs in both private and public transport companies.

Further information revealed that the course fully covers the costs of preparation, passing the exam, driving license, and transportation. The training will start on July 1, 2024, for 15 days. All women who meet the following criteria can participate:

  • who is a citizen of Georgia
  • she should be a resident of the Poti municipality
  • must have the age of least 24 years
  • already has the right to drive a “B” category vehicle
  • She must also have 1 year of experience in driving a light vehicle
  • should not be accused of traffic violations (accidents, drunken driving, etc.)
  • Is ready to complete the training course as per the requirement and pass the relevant driving license test

It is also to be added that the interested persons must submit the following documents by June 20.

  • photo/copy of valid acceptable ID card
  • Photo/copy of old “B” category driving license

There will be an interview after reviewing the documents. It is worth mentioning that training courses for women as bus drivers are being implemented within the framework of the “Georgian Urban Transport Improvement Gender Advisory Service Program with the financial support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
