Poti: On July 31, within the framework of the international festival of regional theaters, the season of Poti theater ends. The Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia supported the season ending with Saba Aslamazishvili’s play “The Storm.”
It is worth mentioning that the International Festival of Regional Theaters celebrates its tenth anniversary year. This year from July 26 to August 1, the events were hosted by the municipalities of Senak and Poti. Both local and foreign theater troupes participated in the festival.
The festival opened on July 26 in the Akaki Khorava State Drama Theater of Senaki with the support of the “Kartu” Foundation. This also depicted the ten years of history and will end with a concert in Poti on August 1,
The festival’s guests included directors, theater critics, theater and film actors, and members of the region’s local community. The Cultural and Educational Foundation Today organizes the festival, and Nineli Chankvetadze is its artistic director.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Culture Georgia, prioritizes promoting regional theaters and activating cultural life in regions. Through contests announced by the Ministry theater troupes display their creativity to audiences from different parts of Georgia. This tradition allows the inhabitants of the regions to participate in various critical creative processes.
It is to be added that the play “The Tempest” was staged by the artistic director of Poti Theater and was based on William Shakespeare’s work. Giorgi Ustiashvili is the artist of the play. The performance was given a unique touch with the music of Konstantine Ejibashvili. The performance was sold out.
The audience highly appreciated the performance of the actors. The mystical play tells how a vengeful man punishes and destroys those who have harmed him but in the play’s finale comes the time to forgive himself and his enemies.
The play also tells us that humans often create an imaginary world we control. Unlimited power creates the illusion of happiness at first but then it makes us lose our sense of moderation and hurt ourselves and society. Zura Dondoladze, Tornike Kakulia, Aniko Shurghaia, Irakli Kverghelidze, Ani Andghuladze, Niara Chichinadze, Nodar Bzhalava, Guja Karaya, Gena Shonia, Beka Jumutia and others take part in the play.
