In a wave of criticism, the Prime Minister of Hungary extended support for the Georgian Dream. Hungarian PM Viktor Orbán, during his official visit to Georgia also congratulated his Georgian counterpart Irakli Kobakhidze on another term as leader of the nation.
It is worth noting that since the October 26 election result was declared, opposition parties have refused to accept it. The United States of America also expressed similar views. The USA’s Secretary of State, Antony Blinkon stated in this regard and condemned the reports of polling rule violation by Georgian Dream.
During his official visit Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán also expressed his optimism for the future relations between Georgia and Hungary. He emphasized that the election results are indisputable and that Hungary accepts them.
He believes that the results are a reflection of the government’s people-oriented policies, instilling hope for the future of the two nations’ relations.
The Prime Minister of both countries addressed a joint press conference and stressed the importance of strong bilateral relations. The Hungarian PM stated “I am very happy to extend my best wishes to Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and also want to congratulate all members of Georgian Dream on their historic election victory.”
He also said, I have been observing the comments of foreign countries and would like to condemn this as no one has the right to comment on an internal matters of another country.
At the same time he said peaceful bilateral relations are beneficial for both countries and will benefit Georgia and Hungary in multiple ways.
While appreciating the people of Georgia, he said it is great to see that people are fighting for Georgia’s freedom. Unity among common people is necessary for a stable and unbiased government approach to addressing the country’s internal and external affairs.
On the other hand the Georgian Prime Minister thanked his counterpart for Hungary. He said support of Hungary is important for Georgia’s integration in European Union.
He said the comment of Hungary PM of rejecting the allegation of poll violation confirmed that Georgian Dream deserved victory.
