Georgia:Prosecution office launches processing against call center scam

The Georgian Prosecution Service has launched criminal proceedings against five people. These five people were involved in call center fraud.

Tbilisi: The Georgian Prosecution Service has launched criminal proceedings against five people. These five people were involved in call center fraud.

Call center-related fraud is growing in Georgia. The Prosecution Office has busted many such call center scams in past months as well. The call center scam’s accused used to target foreign citizens.

The office held a press briefing on September 6 regarding this latest development. The official said,“The prosecution office of Georgia and many other law enforcement agencies have taken many measures to stop such scams. The prosecution office has also coordinated with many European colleagues.”

According to the office the accused created a fake firm “Morgan Limited” LLC. The accused took possession of illegal money worth 3,170,000 euros. Most of the victim belonged to the Federal Republic of Germany, Slovenia, and Slovakia.

The in-depth investigation conducted by law enforcement agencies revealed that Georgian citizens including Eldar Biniashvili and Davit Todua were unofficial shareholders and actual owners of the fraudulent call center.

The individuals identified by law enforcement are the main accused who led the entire group. As they have left the country criminal prosecution has been started against them in absentia.

An international search will be announced immediately in order to arrest them and bring them to Georgian justice, this will demonstrate the commitment of the Georgian Prosecution Service to bring these criminals to justice.

Menahille’s prosecution office applied to the court within the time limit established by law to detain the accused. The detention will be preventative in natrue to prevent the accused from tampering with evidence related to the crime.

All have been charged with strict provisions of law; if they are found guilty of a crime they can be sent for rigorous imprisonment . As a result of the measures carried out in recent years, the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has prosecuted 94 individuals and 7 legal entities who were directly or indirectly involved in the activities of call centers. Hundreds of citizens of different European countries have become their victims.
