Tbilisi, Georgia: The Prosecution Service of Georgia has charged one person with murder in Tbilisi on February 5, 2025. The accused was punished with an imprisonment of up to 10-15 years.
An investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs revealed that on February 1, during an argument in a residential apartment on Tevdore Mghvdli Street in Tbilisi, the accused shot the victim in various parts of his body with a firearm. The victim died on the spot as a result of the injuries.
It should be noted that, earlier, the Georgian Prosecutor’s Office in Tbilisi charged one person for the crime and the other person – for not reporting the crime.
The investigation carried out by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that on January 31, at about 19:00, in Tbilisi, neighboring Saknavti settlement N0. 2, during the verbal conflict, the accused shot the victim several times with a firearm, which was registered on his name with the right of storage and carrying. The victim died on the spot because of the received injuries.
The second accused who was at the scene when the crime was committed and who knew that an especially grave crime – intentional killing – was committed, did not report the law enforcement authorities about it.
The Law enforcement officers arrested the main culprit on February 3, 2025. He was charged under Article 108 (intentional murder) and Parts 3 and 4 of Article 236 (illegal acquisition, storage, and carrying of firearms) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for a term of imprisonment of 10 to 15 years.
Another accused was charged under Article 376 Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (failure to report a crime), which provides imprisonment from 3 to 7 years as a punishment.
The Georgian Prosecutor’s Office has already demanded the court to use imprisonment as a preventive measure for the accused.
