Tbilisi: The Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Irakli Karseladze, visited the ongoing infrastructure projects in Abastumani. As he informed, the important public infrastructure projects of Abastumani are at the completion stage.
The construction of the parking lot and the renovation project of the bathhouse is in the final phase, which will give the resort the opportunity to fully display its natural potential.
Additionally, interesting new elements will appear, which will make Abastumani stand out not only due to its natural conditions but also taking into account the development that is currently taking place in the township.
The pace of infrastructure development is evident from the point of view of the involvement of the private sector as well. High-class hotels of different concepts and designed for different types of tourism are being built, which will give the resort a different load”, said the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Irakli Karseladze, after visiting the ongoing infrastructure projects in Abastumani.
The completed and ongoing projects of urban renewal of Abastumani and the high-class hotels under construction in the township (Rumsi and Hilton) were visited by the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Irakli Karseladze, and the Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Levan Davitashvili.
At the entrance of Abastumani, the construction of a parking lot for up to 770 vehicles, equipped with electric car chargers, continues; As part of the second phase of the urban renewal of Abastumani, the rehabilitation of the green and blue corridors of the township is underway, which includes the arrangement of pedestrian and bicycle paths, recreational and rest areas, the restoration of the central road and other facilities.
The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, within the framework of the Abastumani development plan, has already completed the complete rehabilitation of about 20 historical houses of the 19th-20th centuries, the National Astrophysical Observatory built in 1932, and the cableway built in 1982 on the central street.
The general plan for the development of the resort was developed, the construction-rehabilitation of the resort’s water supply and sewage systems and sewage treatment plant was completed.
After the successful rehabilitation of the Abastumani observatory building, the 1.5-meter telescope and the 12-meter radius dome of the observatory are already being prepared by the Austrian company.
For the development of a unique resort, the complete rehabilitation of the Baghdati-Abastumani road and the construction of the Abastumani bypass road continue.
