Tbilisi City Hall has announced that the public transport route will be temporarily changed for two days, from January 20 to January 22, due to the ongoing road works on Akaki Tsereteli Avenue. The road works are in the last stage, and new asphalt pavement is laid on the entire avenue.

The route changes will affect N311, N 327 buses and N458, N 476, and N 504 minibuses, which will move according to the established scheme instead of following their usual route from Tsereteli Avenue to Tsereteli Street in the direction of Tsabadze Street and Aghmashenebeli Avenue.

Similarly, the N 320 bus and N 536 and N 551 minibuses, which move opposite toward Tsereteli Avenue, will not enter Aghmashenebeli Avenue and will continue to travel on Tamar King Avenue. Then, they will join Tsereteli Ave through Zidramashvili Street.

N 476 and N 458 minibuses, which move towards the station square, will also change their route and will continue shifting from David Kifiani Street to Agmashenebeli Avenue, after which they will connect to Abastumani Street via Tamar Mefei Avenue and Pidamshvrishvili Street.

In the opposite direction, they will connect from the station square to Tamar King’s Avenue and Agmashenebeli Avenue and drive from David Kifiani Street.

Tbilisi City Hall apologizes for the inconvenience caused by the route changes and urges the public to plan their trips accordingly. The road works on Tsereteli Avenue are expected to be completed soon, and the public transport route will resume regular operation.

Faced with allegations of corruption and blamed for the headache-inducing traffic jams, Mayor Kakha Kaladze has even vowed to get personally involved in the works on the never-ending reconstruction of the avenue.

The mayor of Tbilisi has less than two weeks to keep his promise and finish the reconstruction. On January 19, additional traffic restrictions were imposed on the avenue.

The road works are part of the city’s infrastructure development plan, which aims to improve the traffic flow and road safety in the capital.
