Batumi, Georgia: The rehabilitation and construction works of Rustaveli and Gogebashvili streets began in Batumi on Sunday as the Georgian government wishes to upgrade the road networks of Batumi City.
The Mayor of Batumi, Archil Chikovani visited the construction site and got acquainted with the works on February 9. It should be noted that along the Batumi’s Mayor, the chairman of the Adjara Government also inspected the works.
Batumi’s Mayor, Archil Chikovani shared glimpses of his visit on his official Facebook page. The minister also shared a small note about the rehabilitation works along with the photographs.
According to the Minister’s note, it is noted that the rehabilitation project involves replacing existing paving with three layers of asphalt. In the framework of the project the underground communications, sidewalks, curbs, road lane with greenery and decorative fencing, safety islands, traffic lights and road signs will be set up.
It is also noteworthy that, until the end of May the municipal buses will operate in a changed route under the framework of these works. The two-way traffic was fixed on Ninoshvili, Griboedov, and Chavchavadze streets. The traffic was restricted both ways on Rustaveli Street – in the section between Alexander Griboedov and Demetre Devdavali streets.
According to the information provided by the Minister, it is noted that the heads of Batumi municipality and deputies of Adjara High Council got acquainted with the ongoing works on Rustaveli Street.
Minister Chikovani also noted the financial investment made by the government for these construction works. it should be noted that the total cost of the work is up to 22 million GEL.
The local citizens are glad to know that the roads of their region are developing as this will directly help in easy transportation of products and will benefit especially those who wish are willing to increase their small scale businesses.
The Mayor also noted that, with the support of the Georgian government, similar works will be carried out in the city throughout the whole year.
