Mestia, Georgia: The National Agency for the Protection of the Cultural Heritage of Georgia continues rehabilitating towers and chubs in the Mestia municipality.
At this stage, the rehabilitation of the tower of Mikheil Filfani in the village of Kashveti of the Lengeri community, the middle floor of the tower of Babu Filfani / Salareb Tsipiani, and the tower of Sograt Kurdiani in the village of Murshkeli of the Mulakhi community is underway.
The project-cost documentation of monument rehabilitation has been developed, based on which the works in 2024 are planned.
The project documentation includes dismantling the Mikheil Filfan tower’s roof, installing a waterproofing membrane, and installing phenyl-treated roof sheeting.
Meanwhile, work is in progress on cleaning Babu Pilfani and Salareb Tsipiani towers from the demolition, swearing the middle floor cladding, removing the damaged part of the stone, removing the damaged drainage of the facade, and re-grinding the mud oven.
The removal and construction of the stone structure of the tower’s surface and installation of wooden structures for the roof, lower and upper phenyl, and 48 cubic meters tower wall with the solution of Kirdughab are underway at the Sograt Kurdiani Tower.
The winner of the electronic tender company “Towers+” Ltd. performs the works based on the government acquisition contract signed on May 13, 2024
The agency allocated 245 336 GEL to rehabilitate the three towers mentioned above.
For information: The agency is rehabilitating towers and mats in different villages of Mestia municipality step by step. The works started in 2023 have been completed, and the towers of the Giglemian and Phangan families in the village of Tsvirmi, the towers of Lasha Guledani and Misha Guledani in the village of Nesgun of the Lengeri community, and Gisa Khaptani, Beka Khorguani, and Tevdore Shukvani in the village Sol were renewed.
Also, in the village of Lakhiri of the Mulakhi community, the Gubandi and Machubi in the Rusiko Zurebiani complex were renovated, and in the town of Atsa – the tower of Gia Kvebliani.
