Rehabilitation program for children with special need implemented in Akhaltsikhe

The Akhaltsikhe municipality administration has implemented a rehabilitation plan for children with special needs. The children who are registered with municipalities can avail benefits of this important  social welfare program.

The representatives of Municipality while talking about the program underlined, “The program envisages financing rehabilitation programs for children with special needs registered in the territory of Akhaltsikhe Municipality. It will include cost of  main diagnosis as well as measures to develop their social, motor, cognitive, communication, self-care and independent functioning skills.”

Moreover, the children with autism spectrum disorder, down syndrome, developmental delays, who have physical or mental health problems, will be financed with rehabilitation procedures provided for this disease.

As per provisions of program the 80% of the required amount will be provided by municipality but it will not be beyond 2200 GEL per year.

The citizens who want to get benefits under this program need to submit following documents:

1. Written application with name of applicant along with name of parent or any interested person
2. Copy of the applicant’s ID card
3. Copy of the beneficiary’s birth certificate (can be supported with attachment of ID card or passport)
4. Document confirming the place of registration of the beneficiary
5. Certificate of health status (form No. IV-100/a), which must indicate the main diagnosis of the person
6. Copy of the certificate confirming the status of the child with disabilities (if any)
7. Invoice/invoice and calculation for any prior treatment
8. Certificate from the LEPL State Care and Assistance Agency for Victims of Trafficking, Victims
9. Proof about what types of services the child uses within the framework of the state rehabilitation program (if available)

It is worth to note that the reimbursement will be made in the form of a non-cash payment to the bank account of the relevant institution, based on the presentation of final documentation. Notably  in 2024, 555 beneficiaries used the aforementioned program, for which 185,526 GEL was spent from the local budget.
