Rustavi, Georgia: Rustavi municipality was awarded for best practice at the National Association of Local Self-Governments competition on Thursday, March 20, 2025.

It is noteworthy that the Rustavi Sports Educational Museum was named the best in the nomination – preschool education, extracurricular education municipal programs.

Notably, a special award was given to the Rustavi Mayor Nino Latsabidze, by Deputy Minister of Education and Science Tamar Gvamichava. After receiving the award of honor, she was overjoyed. She posted the event’s glimpses and her excitement on her Facebook handles.

She expressed his heartlfelt gratitude towards the National Association of Self-Governments for this assessment and the team of the City Hall of Rustavi for making thier Sports Educational Museum project best practice.

According to the mayor’s Facebook post, it was noted that the employees of municipal halls of municipalities were also rewarded at the event, who directly participated in the preparation of the tender application. Mariam Latsabidze, the head of the “Rustavi Municipal Reforms and Services Development Center” received the prize from Rustavi City Hall.

The National Association of Local Self-Governments of Georgia awarded 13 municipalities that won 11 nominations for the Best Practice Program (BPP) competition at the eighth conference.

In addition to Rustavi, the municipalities of Dusheti, Kutaisi, Poti, Tetritskaro, Senaki, Dmanisi, Kharagauli, Oni, Batumi, Baghdati, Khashuri and Zugdidi received special prizes and seals.

Participants of the conference:

  • Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze,
  • the delegate of Rustavi and Garabani Historical Villages to the Parliament of Georgia, Irakli Shatakishvili,
  • the Chairman of the Parliament’s Regional Policy and Self-Governance Committee Irakli Kadagishvili,
  • representatives of the Central and Executive Government,
  • the Non-Governmental Sector,
  • International organizations
  • other municipalities.

During the conference, the European Charter “Equality of Women and Men in Local Life” was signed, which was joined by 4 more mhttps://georgiaonline.ge/atea-hosts-7th-conference-and-award-ceremony-of-best-practice-program/unicipalities in 26 self-governments that have already signed.

A memorandum of cooperation between ATEA and the Regional Policy and Self-Governance Committee of the Parliament was signed during the conference. In order to guarantee decentralization and legislative support for local government, the pact seeks to foster collaboration between the parties.

The Rustavi Sports Educational Museum, which combines work, exhibition, library, and instructional facilities, opened a few months ago. Over 6,000 people had already visited the museum.
