Georgia: With the help of the Georgian Government, Rustavi City Hall implemented a project worth 20 million GEL and purchased 70 new buses that comply with Euro standards.
One more important stage of the municipal transport reform in Rustavi has been completed, and the decades-long problem of passenger transport to Tbilisi has been solved.
Nino Latsabidze also said, “With the help of the Georgian government and the unity of our team, we have fulfilled one more condition for the Rustavi people.
Twenty-five buses decorated with Rustavi’s new branding are already in Rustavi and will serve the population starting tomorrow.
Presentation of new municipal buses and routes to Rustavi residents, Mayor of Rustavi Nino Latsabidze, and Majoritarian Deputy of Rustavi Irakli Shatakishvili presented to the Georgian Parliament.
The presentation was attended by deputies of the Rustavi mayor, members of the city council fraction “Georgian Dream,” representatives of the municipal motor transport service, and students of Rustavi.
The first route, which will be operational tomorrow, was determined from the Old Rustavi, near the Chemists Sports Complex, to the area near the Sports Palace.
After the completion of this important stage of Rustavi’s municipal transport reform, buses will travel from Rustavi to Tbilisi on five different routes—four new and five new to the already existing Isani direction.
Rustavi’s new municipal buses will run on the baseline line in the capital, making travel to Tbilisi even more comfortable.
It will be possible to pay for travel fares with a card system – Rustavi Card, Georgia, and TBC Bank cards. The social package has been approved, and a discounted rate has been fixed for students and disabled people.
The traffic schedule of Rustavi’s new municipal buses will also be posted on the electronic boards of the capital’s bus stops. Three more routes have been approved: the university building, which will pass through Vake, to the railway station, and the Didube bus station.
Buses designated to travel on these routes will enter the city step by step. From Rustavi to Tbilisi, passengers adapted to modern, disabled, environmentally friendly municipal transport will be served.
