Rustavi: The Mayor of Rustavi, Nino Latsabidze opened an art gallery in the city. This is the first time in twenty years that a new Otar Chkhartishvili Rustavi art gallery has been opened.
At the gallery’s opening event, Mayor Nino Latsabidze underlined that opening an art gallery was a long-standing desire for every Rustavi artist and other citizens.
Moreover with the opening of this gallery, the Rustavi administration has fulfilled another promise to preserve the rich art and cultural heritage of Georgia in general and of Rustavi specifically.
It is worth noting that this gallery also displayed a series of unique works, artistic works dedicated to the period of life in Rustavi. The paintings depicting Rustavi in the 1970s and 1980s from the window of the artist’s house can also be found there.
The Rustavi city hall administration took to social media to share information about the opening of this art gallery there.
Minister of IDPs, Labor, Health and Social Affairs Mikheil Sarjveladze and his Deputy Giorgi Tsagareishvili, and State Representative in Kvemo Kartli Giorgi Dokurishvili were also present at the opening event.
At the same time, the Majoritarian MP of Rustavi, Irakli Shatakishvili, MP Giorgi Volsk, Members of the Dream, representatives of the art and artistic field and members of the family of Otar Chkhartishvili also attended the opening ceremony of an art gallery.
It is also to be noted that the art gallery building was sold in Rustavi in 2005and since then, Rustavi artists have had no closed exhibition space for their activities.
The space that occupies the first floor of the new building of the youth palace will host not only artists from Rustavi and Georgia but also international exhibitions.
The Student-Youth Palace, a Youth Center with a multidisciplinary concept will welcome young people from all over the country. The Art Gallery is one of the main attractions of the new Youth Center concept.
The social media user while reacting to the development, said that this is a noble act of Rustavi’s administration. It will carry forward the legacy of rich heritage and culture of Georgia for next generation.
