Saint Lucia: Dr Ernest Hilaire presents sponsorship cheques to host communities of Jazz Events

Saint Lucia: The Minister of Tourism, Dr Ernest Hilaire, presented sponsorship cheques to the five host communities of Community Jazz Events in Saint Lucia. With this sponsorship, he showcased the government’s commitment to fostering vibrant local jazz celebrations. 

The Community Jazz Events will kick off around Saint Lucia on May 1 and will feature a lineup of musical performances, art exhibitions, and other cultural activities. These events also showcases the local traditions and culture activities of the island nation. 

The event was held on Thursday, during which Dr Hilaire reiterated his ministry’s commitment to all the activities. 

The host communities/events include:

*Hills & Valleys Inspirational Jazz – Bexon, May 1

*Desruisseaux Jazz & Arts, Jazz La Sé Sa Nous, May 1

*Fond D’or Jazz – May 4 

*Soufriere Jazz, The Experience May 5

*Monchy Mizik En Kwéyòl – May 7 

The Minister also said that the community jazz events attract visitors from both within and outside Saint Lucia. It helps in boosting local businesses such as restaurants, cafes, hotels and shops. He said that these events generate increased foot traffic, leading to greater sales and renenue for small business owners. 

According to Minister Ernest Hilaire, the events also help in creating job opportunities and helps stimulate the local economy. 

In addition to economic benefits, community jazz events contribute to a sense of unity and pride among residents. These gatherings offer a platform for local musicians to showcase their talent while also celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Saint Lucia.

From the sultry sounds of saxophones to the energetic beats of percussion, each performance will showcase the diversity and talent that defines the festival. Other than the music, the festival will also highlight the rich cultural heritage of Saint Lucia through visual arts, culinary delights, and captivating Community Jazz events.
