Castries, Saint Lucia: The Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Ernest Hilaire, met with the Ambassador of Taiwan along with the International Cooperation Development Fund(ICDF), where they concluded the “Community-based Story Collection Training Workshop”. The training programme was designed to train the storytellers while boosting the experiences in local communities.
The workshop brought together the storytellers in Saint Lucia within its framework. The programme has been executed in a two-phased approach. Accordingly, Phase 1 of the workshop continued from January 25 to February 1, 2023. While the second phase of the programme is scheduled to begin in May 2023.
At the end of the ‘Community-based Story Collection Training Workshop’, the Taiwanese Ambassador expressed his pleasure in joining Ernest Hilaire, the Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia and the minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Industries and information to discuss methods to unveil even stories to visitors.
The ‘Community-based Story Collection Training Workshop’ was driven by a vision, that was ‘ Tell the story of your Community’, so that everyone comes out and shares their personal experiences and tales.
The Taiwan Embassy, in its invitation for the participants to the event in Soufriere, wrote that “Want to preserve the valuable history in your community but don’t know how? Taiwanese experts are going to hold a “Community-based Story Collection Training Workshop” in Soufriere to teach you how to collect and tell the story of the community. Share your stories yourself and get a chance to connect with the community.
