Davit Bakhtadze, the Mayor of the Samtredia municipality has visited the memorial of the Maryred to pay his tribute. He was accompanied by the deputy chairman of the city council and other representatives. They decorated the memorial with flowers , and wreaths in honour of the soldiers who died in the Second World War.
The day is also recalled as the victory over fascism. Notably, 79 years have passed since the end of World War II. Â After paying tribute to the martyrs the Mayor said – “this day is very important for each of us because our country Georgia made a great contribution in winning the victory over fascism. However, unfortunately, there are no war veterans in Samtredia municipality anymore, it is a great loss for every one of us.”
This is also worth mentioning that according to the provisions of the Georgian government the many welfare schemes have been introduced.  As per these soldiers welfare  schemes the participants of the Second World War are entitled to receive a one-time cash social assistance . The  2000 GEL will be given to the soldier whereas the  family members of the deceased in the Second World War can avail the assistance of 1000 GEL.
On May 8, 1945, after the end of World War Two May 9 was declared the Victory Day over Fascism and now is celebrated every year. Â Out of the total 300000 could not return from the battlefield to their homeland. The Georgian nation made a great contribution to gaining victory.
The visiting people also has small children as the members of group  . They were holding the national flag of Georgia in their hands. The other people also laid the wreaths on the memorial. They said that this is a proud moment for all of us as the country is celebrating the day of victory over fascism. The municipality also shared this information on their Facebook page along with the photos of the event as well.
