The final Tennis match was held on 23 July, 2023. A Tennis championship was organized with the support of the Samtredia Municipality City Hall administration, which received a great response.
The tournament which took place on the “tennis courts” on Lasha Tevzadze Street for several days ended today with the final match. The championship includes both single matches and group matches. It is to be specifically mentioned that on this occasion Sandro Tavadze became the champion and Tornike Mefarishvili and Karlo Abshilava won first place in pairs.
The other winners of the matches included:
- 2nd place Giorgi Mikeltadze
- 3rd place goes to Carlo Abshilava
In group competition the winners include
- 2nd place: Sandro Tavadze, Giorgi Mikeltadze
- 3rd place Giorgi Kakhiani, Saba Kvetenadze
It is to be noted that the tournament judge Sofia Sharangia, awarded the winning participants with a cup, medal, certificates, and cash prizes. The prize and money were financed by the Samtredia Municipality City Hall.
The Mayor of the municipality Davit Bakhtadze, and representatives of the local self-government also attended the tennis championship. Davit Bakhtadze also addressed the players on this occasion and said “In the Samtredia Municipality, many projects were implemented for uplifting the sports infrastructure, which contributed to the interest, involvement, and holding of championships of young people and enthusiasts in various sports.”
He further added, “ This is our goal and we have organised the tennis championship, many tennis enthusiasts became interested in this sport after we built the tennis court and arranged the infrastructure. According to the Mayor the main goal is to engage the maximum number of people in sports and encourage them to follow a healthy lifestyle and the administration of the local municipality will do everything in this direction.”
On the other hand sportspersons also expressed gratitude to the municipality administration and said that this was a great effort. They also thanked the Mayor for such an initiative. A large number of people who were present to see the match appreciated the Government for nurturing the sports skills in the municipality.
