Science Festival opens at TSU during Earth Week

Scientific festival was opened at Tbilisi State University. The event was held during the Earth Week and aims to promote science, interest of young people in research activities, link science with everyday life, learn and analyze the challenges facing the Earth, and engage in activities to make ecosystem healthier.

Scientific festival was opened at Tbilisi State University. The event was held during the Earth Week and aims to promote science, interest of young people in research activities, link science with everyday life, learn and analyze the challenges facing the Earth, and engage in activities to make ecosystem healthier.   

The Tbilisi State University (TSU) of Georgia shared the glimpses of the event on its Official Facebook Page on April 16, 2026, Thursday. The University also shared a small note about the event along with its glimpses.

At the event TSU students, young researchers, professor-teachers presented interesting experiments, research projects, discoveries. According to TSU rector, academician Jaba Samushia, the university supported the student initiative – to hold a science festival during Earth Week.

Events like these are important to promote the Earth’s Teaching Sciences to the younger generation. The students’ interest in science is remarkable, they were very curious and engaged in interesting experiments.

“ Festival attendees touched 4.4 billion-year-old minerals; learned about ammonites, which are at least 65 million years old; took part in chemical experiments: chemical flashlight, iodine clock reaction, artificial blood, golden rain, piranha solution, and more; observed flying fish, coral diversity, microscopic invertebrate animal organisms; conducted students’ x Robots assembled by waiting; they got acquainted Drone engineering, visited the planetarium.

During the week (19-26) Chemistry Laboratory, Planetarium, Mineralogy Educational-Scientific Laboratory Tours will be held. The event is organized by TSU and the American Chemical Society Tbilisi State University Student Chapter (ACS – American Chemical Society Georgian Student Chapter of TSU). On April 19-26, Earth Week is held worldwide, which emphasizes once again the importance of solving ecological problems and activating environmental activities.
