On 29th April 2024 a training session was held for teachers at the Georgian National University, Tbilisi. The training was held by Natia Akhvlediani, who is the Head of the School Lab of Modern Technologies ‘’Explorium’’.
As artificial technology is evolving its influence in almost every field , so the education sector cannot be an exception to the rule. The participants of the training explore the possibilities of the utilization of AI techniques to bring dramatic changes in the education system of the country.
A significant number of the school teachers attended the meeting where they also shared their own experiences about the introduction of Artificial intelligence in teachings.
The main topics that were discussed during the training session were the following :
- The opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence in the context of education: The key speaker while speaking on the topics said that although artificial intelligence has the potential to bring a revolution in education like the implementation of smart classes etc, however, there are many challenges attached with the use of AI in the school education. The children will be addicted to electronic gadgets for problem-solving ultimately affecting their creativity is the biggest threat that can be posed by AI.
- The best practice of using artificial intelligence: The participants discuss the various ways that can be implemented in this direction
- The strategies for the improvement of the teaching and learning process: Speaking on this topic it was stressed that the use of AI for teachers should be under the prescribed rules and regulations which do not compromise the quality of education
- Ethical aspects of artificial intelligence and potential risks: Under this topic the need to have strong legal provisions was underlined
Notably the training was organized by the SEU Master’s Program in Education Administration and the Educational Program in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
